Scouts Lake Dam – Keachi, LA

The purpose of our evaluation was to determine the general subsurface conditions to establish the acceptable factor of safety. DRGeoES performed geotechnical exploration to determine general subsurface conditions and soil profile to obtain soil parameters for slope stability analysis. The Slope Stability Analysis is based on subsurface conditions found in the borings, the observations during our site visit, and the slope surface profiles provided by the client. Stability Analysis of the slopes were carried out using the computer program SLIDE 2 with the Spencer method of Analysis. It is a simplified program using limit equilibrium method, includes built-in finite element groundwater seepage analysis, probabilistic analysis, multi-scenario modeling, and support design. SLIDE 2 can be used for all types of soil and rock slopes, embankments, earth dams, and retaining walls. The safety factor is determined by the ratio of available resistance force versus the driving force in the horizontal direction.
